thanks guys for the info. I agree Cathay is probably the best option. I am very skeptical about Air India. Have been hearing negative comments since I was a kid, when my dad a was a frequent overseas business traveller. Things might have changed lately but the bad impressions linger on.
JAL looks promising too.
My mom doesn't need the nozzle-bum-wash as much as she needs to sit on the toilet because she cannot squat due to bad knees. And that is available with every airline I imagine.
I agree though the "bidget" would a plus for some seniors and honestly I think its also cleaner.
In our case, however, we need leg room, wheel chair facility (very imp), veggie indian food (the food on emirates wasn't up to the mark) and decent service.

Planning to apply GC in 2008 jan or sometime will it be fine. that time my H1 completes 4 yrs. How long will it take labour? will it be over by 2010?
once i file labour and if not cleared by 2010(h1 completes 6 yrs). i must go back india? right?

What if VISA is not given .. can you come back?
Valid I 94 is good enough at port of entry (even if your visa in your pp is expired)... as long as
1. your stay in canada is not more than 30 days
2. you did not appear for the visa interview (@US consulate) in canada.
3. You are not from a terrorist sponsored contries such as Iran, N. Korea etc.
This is called as "Automatica visa Revalidation" rule.
In other words if your visa is rejected @ the consulate and if your visa in passport is expired, you CANNOT come back to USA (using 30 day "automatica visa revalidation" rule).

Congressmen from hi-tech SF and CA.
That is why they may be using this tactic to bring pressure from hospitals from that area. Anyone from here spoke or wrote to these congressmen, that I posted in the other thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=47625&postcount=1) at IV.
I doubt if the above three even know what the whole deal on these 90K visas is. where they come from, what are at stakes, who lost them, why they lost them etc things. I agree with you that we need to call these and let them know that these belong to EB, hence recapture them for EB and request them to allocate special 50K/90K to Schedule A

jaggu bhai .. I like your handle, reminds me of a senior from college days. Anyway, here are some of my inputs as my wife is also pursuing a masters program in MIS.
1) Part time - full time may or may not be a lot different depending upon university you pick up. One of my co-workers is pursuing an online masters program and his cost is almost same as a part/full time from a known university.
You may also qualify for resident tuition depending on state/univ. laws where you reside. Check on that, it may reduce your cost a lot.
2) Starting on H4 or F1 is on your choice or affordability. You may need to show 1yr of funds before a college issues an I-120 form for status change to F1 whereas on H4 you may just proceed at your own pace and no funds need to be proven. CPT/OPT or college internships cannot be taken up on H4 and so you may need to switch to F1 sometime based on your plans of using OPT.
These are my thoughts based on what you mentioned. Other opinion also matters .. may be some more members can comment based on known scenarios.

Hi,
I've already completed my 6 yrs on H1, have my 140 approved, applied for extension and got it (before 6 yr expiry). The extension has been approved for 3 years.
Now -- I need to change employers as my employer is asking me to become full time from consulting.
2 questions:
1. Can I use this extension to change employers?
2. Can I start the GC process with the 140 priority date? (Feb '08)?

Why would anybody ask for visa to issue a driver's license? How is one's driving privilege dependent upon visa? No one has ever asked me or my wife or my friends for a visa to issue a driver's license. Is this some law specific to some states?
When did you renew your DL?
Homeland Security is getting tough these days and DMV will ask for your H1 or H4 visa or EAD.
In other words, they check for your immigration status.
There is even a "SAVE" program on other states which makes it difficult to renew. The SAVE program first verifies your immigration status with USCIS, and after being cleared, then DMV could renew your DL,

I have seen people get a copy of their approved I-140 using FOIA Freedom of Information Act Request, where the employer was giving them a hard time and not sharing their I-140 info. So there are ways you can get a copy of the approved I-140 provided of course everything is in order. (previous poster has also posted information of getting duplicate I-140)
This is kind of similar - you should contact a good lawyer and try and get that I-140 copy
if you current lawyer is unhelpful just get advice and help from some other immigration lawyer - you are in the home stretch dont give up - try and provide USCIS whatever they want. (though technically they should have information about the approved I-140 - so I dont get why they are requesting a original copy from you!)
Also you mention
"In late 2008, with the help of a congressman, my new attorney was able to figure out that USCIS has lost my original I-140 application (filed at Nebraska center) and USCIS has issued the same I-140 receipt no. to somebody else. Do you have any documentation abou this ? a letter from Congressman etc? This is really weird never heard anything like this before.
You should collect all such documents (contact the congressman again if need be to get a letter or something in writing) then contact
a good immigration lawyer.

The original poster "getrdone" wrongly pressed panic button. There is no change from 2004 thru till now. I went to mexico several times for stamping. I have seen several people who got stamping for H1-H1 & F1-H1 (Safe), H4-H1 & B1-H1 (Lucky guys)...In anycase, taking Mexican Visa (though absolutely not mandatory) is advised

Cathay Pacific I'am sure, because the last time i travelled from SFO to Mumbai and back to SFO, mothers were holding their babies trying to pacify their babies, it was like all the babies were crying in symphony one after another, not a single passenger complaining, better than any other airline, if you have a family of children and elderly, I also got up to strech my legs, not one flight attendant came and asked me to seat at my designated space. you feel like home. I have a closing statement from my previous employer mentioning the exercisable options.
Here it goes:

grant date 1/10/2007
Shares exercisable 400
total price =12000
Last date to exercise
7/20/2008
However the market share value for the company now is 26.00
now my question is if I were to exercise before the last date will I be getting the total amount of $12000 or 26 x 400 = $10400 or the difference between the share values which is infact negative or nothing?
I find it difficult understand this financial terms. I dont understand clearly the term 'Exercisable options' Is there a hidden treasure am going to get?????
