I am a July 2 filer. I got 485 receipt notice from California Service Center with receipt date of july 2. Today, in mail, I got another notice called transfer notice, which states that my case has been transferred to Nebraska. The receipt date on the transfer notice is Sep 5. Is it nromal to have such diferent receipt dates? Will USCIS process by receipt date on receipt notice or on transfer notice?

You can get SSN is you could provide a proof that it is required for taking an exam or license. You need to show that the process requires and also get a letter from the license issuer that it required to issue a license.

If Priority date is 'Current', you can't apply for H1 extension!
I know someone whose H1 is expiring soon. He wasn't able to apply for H1extension till July 31st as PD was current. He is applying in August in Premium.
What happens if someones PD remains current ( say someone in 2000 stuck in FBI namecheck) and GC is stuck! Is it EAD all the way to the end thereafter?
What do you mean by infinite? Only till your PD gets current. After that 1 year extensions.

I am a F1 student and am on OPT now. I got my H1B visa approved from Oct-1 2006 to Sep-30 2009.
But my school said I cannot get my degree certificate till December 2006.
My question is when I apply for my Green card will I be considered into EB2 list or EB3 list. On what basis will this be decided.
Please suggest.

So if the minimum requirement of the job is M.S. degree and you also had earned a M.S. degree before you joined the job then it will be EB-2. No amount of letters from the dean or your supervisor will convince then that you earned your degree on a date before the date that appears on your diploma.

Do not mean to hijack the thread but the question hopefully is related.
When I submitted my 485 application, my wife and I requested just the EADs. We have the receipt notice as well as the EAD in our hands. Our FP is done as well.
We are now submitting our AP applications. If anyone has submitted late like myself in the recent past, I would appreciate this information.
1.) Could anyone let me know the appropriate documents for this?
2.) Also, what are the fees associated with it, especially with all the old vs new stuff?

But I guess I'm still hung up on the "suggestion" (not rule, I suppose) to have more space in the direction the subject is heading or looking than to the rear of him/her/it - especially also not to center the subject. So, I'd still crop it the same, but I should have indicated better what I was thinking (not a tight crop, which is probably what it sounded like I meant).

Hi Everyone,
My AP is valid until JUNE 27 2011, (Here is the line from the I-512L, Presentation of the Original Document prior to June 27 2011 allows a customs and border protection inspector at a port-of-entry to parole the named bearer) I'm travelling to India during May / June and will be entering LAX back on June25. Will this be an issue as my AP is expiring in next couple of days.
Experts please let me know your thoughts on my situation whether it is safe to travel and getting in back will not be of an issue.

My wife is planning to travel on AP while H1B is pending administrative processing after a Chennai Consulate interview. We have submitted the required information but she needs to rejoin work and can't wait beyond our existing travel plans.

If the I-140 has been approved, you are entitled to use the PD on any subsequent I-140 unless it is revoked based on fraud or misrepresentation.
The best document to have is a copy of the I-140 approval notice. You are legally entitled to have a copy of this document, and can obtain it by making a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to USCIS using Form G-639. No wonder they can do this , after loosing the case 2 times in the lower courts now they are taking the case to supreme court. Well they got the money , lawyers and dedicated paid employees to work on it fulltime, they can do all they want. Advertise on CNN and get a complete page ad on WSJ. But we have got guys who are sitting on the margins waiting for their Labor to approve to start making the donation. Well you may not last that long here in US to make the donation my friend in this case.
Also guys don't think antis have got problem with only H1B, no, they hate everyone. Don't think you got EAD so you are safe. They are going to target everyone. They are racist and hate anyone who is Indian.
They don't have the volume like us , but what to do with this huge useless volume who are good for nothing. Our members starve to death by donating a fews bucks, loves to question who tries to do anything good and most of all always keen to get there issues to be taken care off at the first place. this is a loosing battle with these type of members in the community.
Every group has started drumming up for the CIR.. its high time guys get together and shell out money from your pockets and donate IV, otherwise you will keep regretting for not doing this.

In US the nice thing about SSA is unemployment and disability security.
But 10 years is a long time to wait on a temporary visa to get your social security back.. There were some discussions to reduce this to 3 years but that talk is dead now.
In India, the best part is 100% compulsory employer contribution. But
Indian PF sucks with rising inflation and lack of accountability.
And we all know how the employers would "Package" their "contribution".
This latest development will sting Indian origin GC holders and US citizens who go back to work in India and MNC employees working abroad.
What are you talking about? My parents retired with good benefits from GPF and PPF (no stock investment). In the article is was estimated that Indian workers are contributing $1.5 Billion dollars in SSA taxes each year. Not everyone works here for 10 years to get the benefits. Hence its only natural for India to charge US citizens working in India if repatriation of benefits is not allowed.
